Finding God in the Little Things

When the Ordinary Becomes Sacred
We often assume we’ll find God in the big moments.
The breakthrough prayer. The emotional worship night. The miracle that changes everything.
But what if God isn’t only waiting in the extraordinary?
What if He’s been quietly present in the moments we barely notice, the ones we rush through every single day?
The breath you just took. The steps you walked across the room. The small seed is pushing its way through the soil.
God is there.
Learning to Notice God in Everyday Life
Most of us weren’t taught to look for God in ordinary places.
We learned to find Him in church, in Scripture, in prayer, and those things matter deeply. But somewhere along the way, we started believing that the rest of life was separate from Him.
Laundry didn’t feel spiritual. Emails didn’t feel holy. Traffic didn’t feel like sacred ground.
But what if it is?
What if God isn’t waiting for your quiet time to show up? What if He’s already with you while you’re washing dishes, answering messages, or trying to make it through a long day?
Sometimes, seeing God in the small things isn’t about doing more; it’s about slowing down enough to notice.

God in the Smallest Moments
Think about how growth really happens.
A seed doesn’t sprout overnight with fireworks and applause. It grows quietly, slowly, almost invisibly.
That’s often how God works in our lives, too.
He’s present when you take a deep breath because you’re overwhelmed. He’s there when you choose patience instead of frustration. He’s there when you keep walking forward, even when you feel tired or unsure.
Every step you take is held by Him. Every breath you breathe is sustained by Him.
The ordinary moments of your life are not interruptions—they are invitations.
A Simple Shift That Changes Everything
When you start looking for God in the little things, something changes.
You stop waiting for “big spiritual moments” to feel close to Him. You realize your everyday life is already filled with His presence. You begin to experience faith not as something separate from life, but woven into it.
Sometimes, the most spiritual thing you can do is simply pay attention.
Pay attention to the quiet moments. To the small signs of growth. To the steady rhythm of your breath.
God has never been absent from your ordinary days.
We’re just learning how to see Him there.
Closing Prayer / Reflection
God, teach us to see You in the little things. In the moments we rush through. In the tasks we think don’t matter. In every breath, every step, every ordinary day.
Help us slow down enough to notice Your presence, not just in the big moments, but in the quiet, simple rhythms of our lives.
Amen.
Reflection Question: Where is one ordinary moment today where you can pause and intentionally notice God’s presence?
